One of the finest and most culturally-rich festivals in Louisiana is Festival Acadiens et Créole in Lafayette, October 12-15, 2017 in Girard Park.
This festival is a self-celebration of Creole and Cajun culture:
- Festival de’ Musique presents the best of Cajun and Zydeco music, ranging from the oldest ballads to the latest in experimental Cajun music and zydeco
- Bayou Food Festival offers the best of Cajun and Creole cuisine, from gumbo to crawfish eggrolls, to jambalaya and pralines, all presented by the area’s best restaurants and caterers;
- Louisiana Craft Fair featuring fine arts and crafts by artists and craftspeople from across Louisiana;
- La Place des Petits for the little ones, featuring games and crafts.
Obviously, there is something for everyone. And this festival is Free!
Thousands of visitors come from all over the country and around the world year after year to experience the Cajun and Zydeco culture, dance to the music which Louisiana is famous for and enjoy the various aspects of this unique festival. Five stages of music, chef demos and children’s activities are only a small part of what this celebration offers.
We recommend that you consider staying at one of the area’s bed and breakfasts which you can find listed in our Cajun Country Region.
