The Red River Revel is a massive arts festival hosted every year in Shreveport, Louisiana. This year, the Revel runs from September 29th through October 7th. Over the course of nine jam-packed days, guests are treated to world-class music, food, drinks, and arts exhibitions. The festival has been happening since 1976 and continues to attract visitors from all across the South. Every day of the Revel promises to be a true feast for the eyes, ears, and, of course, your taste buds.
The major draw of the festival is its incredible music line-up, attracting thousands of excited fans for each performance. Though it changes every year, 2018 promises to be one of the best on record. This year, the Revel will feature performances by Switchfoot, Michael Ray, the Afters, Midnight Star, Knox Hampton, and more. From groovy soul tunes to power rock played on Scottish bagpipes, this year’s lineup promises to be an unforgettable musical experience. All performances are included in your admissions ticket.
But there's so much more to the Revel than just music. The festival also showcases work by over 100 talented visual artists who work in oils, acrylics, jewelry, wood, glass, metal, and other mediums. The Revel is also the perfect place to indulge in your favorite festival foods, including funnel cakes, footlong corn dogs, loaded baked potatoes, and homemade caramel corn. With over 22 different vendors, there's a near-endless variety to choose from. You can try unique creations like chicken & waffles on a stick, Southern classics like blackened catfish and seafood gumbo, or mouthwatering treats like strawberry shortcake and ice cream sundaes.
Coming to the Revel with the kids? There is an entire section of the festival dedicated exclusively to children. Your kids are guaranteed to have just as much fun as you at the mini-grocery store, mock geological dig, bouncy houses, and a variety of fun and educational arts activities. If you still consider yourself a kid at heart, there are also plenty of all age activities to honor your inner child, such as their Red Herring Escape Room and 3D black light exhibit.
The Red River Revel is like multiple festivals combined into one. For the price of your admissions ticket, you can hear great music, see beautiful art, taste delicious food, and have loads of fun with your friends and family. When you’re not at the festival, take some time to explore Shreveport, a diverse city with a distinctly Southern charm.
